Woman in Progress: Tabitha Mackness, creator of Lil' Cubs
Our latest Woman in Progress is Tabitha Mackness, owner of Lil' Cubs, wife and mother to two boisterous boys. Tabitha started Lil’ Cubs in 2015 creating gender neutral fabrics for must have childrenswear (bibs, muslins, zipper baby grows, leggings etc). Her designs are modelled across the country and by lil' cubs belonging to trendy celebrity types too. Branching out into illustrated prints and badge pins for grown ups, Tabitha continues to grow her brand. She's taken time from her hectic schedule to answer our questions - thank you.
What’s the one thing in your life that makes things easier?
Meditation. Taking time out to be still and let go off all the challenges around me.
What’s the one thing you couldn’t live without?
Tea. I love tea, especially Lapsang Souchong.
What’s one thing that you would stop if you could?
My washing machine head. It rarely stops. I find it almost impossible to concentrate on one thing at a time which is why meditation is so important!
What one piece of advice would you give yourself 5 years ago?
Be kinder to yourself.
What one piece of advice would you give yourself 10 years ago?
I was a very different person 10 years ago so the advice I would have given myself then would have been to 'let go'.
What’s the best lesson you’ve learned at work?
Rarely do deadlines get met when other people are involved! But that's ok.
What’s the best lesson you’ve learned at home?
TV is ok! Sometimes I need to be able to work whilst the boys are around and if it means putting on Nanny McCBeebies so be it.
What top tip would you pass on to other women in progress reading this?
You never fail if you try. Go for it and be the best version of yourself that you can be, one day at a time.
Are you done yet? What’s next?
No way! So many plans and ideas. I have a new design coming out next spring.
Thank you Tabitha for being our Woman in Progress and for your advice and insight into work life balance. We look forward to seeing the new designs next year and until then we will keep up with her on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook.
