WIP Cocktail Club: a spooky spritzer for Halloween

Happy Halloween

I'm a Halloween fan.

I love the kitsch, fake spookiness and the excuse for a party.  And this cocktail, a violet white wine spritzer, is the perfect adult accompaniment to Halloween goings-on.  The good thing about this cocktail is not only is it delicious, but it's also absolutely not restricted to Halloween.  In fact I've had this at my friend Zoe's house in summer and winter and enjoyed it every time, I'm just annoyed with myself for only now requesting the recipe!

Violet isn't necessary the first flavour that springs to mind when you think cocktails, but this is delicate and not too strong - no Parma Violets here (although up the violet syrup content if you are a fan..).   Happy Halloween!

Spooky Violet Spritzer recipe

Ingredients

125ml white wine

125ml soda water

20ml violet syrup (I used Monin's Violette Syrup)

To rim the glass (optional): black sugar (available on Amazon) and honey or golden syrup

Method

Check out the method to rim your glass in our Funfetti cocktail recipe here.  Once done, simply mix your ingredients together in a jug and pour into your glass ready to serve.

Garnish with plastic spiders, or violets (see the picture below) if it's not Halloween.
